Gordie Wood passed away Sunday, February 17th,  at home in Roy, Washington. It was a sad day for many NW polo players. Gordie was one of the founding members of the Tacoma Polo Club established in 1965. He always found a way to hook new players on the game. Many young players found a space to play on his field. The current NW Circuit governor, George Dill, started playing at Tacoma. He was one of the finest horsemen and farriers in the Northwest. His good friend Alan Amoroso said that "A lot of horses went lame the day Gordie quit shoeing." Gordie was also active in the Woodbrook Hunt club. But Gordie always said that polo was "The MOST fun you could have with your clothes on!" Happy trails, may the fields be green and the horses be made.

A celebration will be held 1:00 pm at Lacamas Hall at 32113 8th Ave S., Roy on March 8th. At Gordie's request a gathering will follow at Tacoma Polo Club. Everybody welcome. Donations in Gordie's name may be made to Hospice, 2901 Bridgeport Way W., University Place, WA 98466 and Kids Polo Training at 202 288th St. S., Roy, WA 98580.

****The Tacoma Polo Club’s Interscholastic Polo Program is seeking youth 12 years and older interested in participating in Interscholastic Polo.
